Stark County, Bismarck hospital at odds over bill
DICKINSON, N.D. (AP) — A Bismarck hospital is suing Stark County over a felon's hospital bill.
State's Attorney Tom Henning tells The Dickinson Press that he and city commissioners have discussed negotiating a settlement with St. Alexius Medical Center.
The lawsuit is over a $72,870 hospital bill for Jacquelin Mink, one of four Alabama fugitives involved in a standoff with law officers in southwest North Dakota in June 2009. Stark County maintains it is not responsible for the bill because Mink was not arrested until after she was released from the hospital.
An attorney for the hospital declined comment.
