MINOT, N.D. (AP) — Minot's construction industry just completed a banner year, and contractors expect a busy 2011.

Pat Bailey is assistant manager for Muus Lumber in Minot. He told the Minot Daily News that people should start looking for a contractor six months to a year in advance, whether it's a large project or small.

An influx of contractors from out of the area and out of state is helping meet the residential and commercial demand.

Gehrtz Construction Services of Fargo gained visibility in the community when it worked on the State Fair grandstand last summer. That led to work on a warehouse and the company's current project, construction of apartments at Minot State University.
