The menu has been set for the second annual Taste of the Lake Region — and it should be a real treat for those attending.

The event will include an evening of great food, entertainment and socializing, all to raise money for the proposed Alzheimer's unit at Heartland Care Center.

“One hundred percent of the proceeds go to the Alzheimer's Care Unit,” said Karissa Olson, Administrator of Heartland Care Center.

The event will be held Friday, Sept. 24.

“We added a few more chefs and moved to the Memorial Building,” Olson said.

Featured chefs will include Joel Elvrum of The Cove and The Ranch, who will be serving Scandic Salmon and Goat Cheese Pasta; Tammie Roed, who will make Pancit and Lumpia (Filipino cuisine), Dan Janssen of Kneadful Things, who will make Opilio Crab Cake with Apple-Corn Relish, Greens and Radish, Esther Donahue of Modern Cuisine Catering, who will make Duck Condit in Puff Pastry Shell with Asparagus Bundles, and Steve Goll, Sysco, ND, who will make a Pork Tenderloin with Roasted Pork Hunter Sauce.

Trish Hanson will bring a mixed greens salad and Kneadful Things will provide the Dakota Sunflower Bread. Jeff Huber will make old fashioned tomato and knefla soups.

Hanson will also be bringing Almond Bars for the dessert bar and Lee Dahl will bring Romegrout. Member churches, St. Olaf, Peace Lutheran, St. Peter's and Our Saviors Lutheran Church, will provde a variety of Scandinavian baked goods.

“This gives the churches the opportunity to get involved,” Olson noted.

Also lending a hand are Wally's Budget Liquors and The Liquor Locker, who will be providing the wine; The Liquid Bean, who will provide the coffee and An Elegant Affair, who will be decorating for the event.

Entertainment for the hors d'oeuvres will be provided by Richard Neukom, with Wilson Roberts performing later in the evening. A sing-along with Roberts is also planned.

“This will again be a fabulous evening with wonderful food,” Olson said. “It's all the best chefs, all the best entertainment and all the best company in one place!”

The committee in charge of the fundraiser includes Olson, Carol Leevers, Armen Hanson, Annette Hofstad, LeeAnn Johnston and Paula Vistad.

The event is open to the community. For ticket prices and more information, call Vistad at 662-4905, ext. 438.
