Shiverfest coming to cure cabin fever Feb. 19 - 21

Louise Oleson, Editor
One of the most popular attractions of Shiverfest are the sleigh rides on Creel Bay. They will be back this year by popular demand starting at 11 a.m. and going until 4 p.m. on Saturday Feb. 20.

Every day the times of sunrise and sunset change on the front page of the Devils Lake Journal. Each day gets a little longer and a little closer to springtime. In the meantime, residents of the Lake Region are enduring another of the northern plains’ famous winters complete with freezing temperatures, windchills below zero and snow depths that are merely inches less than this year at the same time. According to Ramsey County Agent Bill Hodous we have an average of only three inches of snow less than last year’s depths for the same time period.

Although this year’s January was more temperate and winter didn’t seem to come quite so early as it did last year, this time of year most area residents experience some bouts of cabin fever.

The Devils Lake Area Chamber of Commerce has a cure for the wintertime blahs - it’s called Shiverfest and it’s coming Feb. 19 – 21.
