CHS Lake Region joined CHS locations across the country in sending more than $650,000 and nearly 400,000 pounds of food to hungry families through the annual CHS Harvest for Hunger food, funds and grain drive led by the Country Operations division of CHS, the nation’s leading farmer-owned cooperative.

Since the program’s launch in 2011, more than $4 million and 2.7 million pounds of food  have been raised. Donations collected from March 1-20, as well as additional contributions by CHS, went to food shelves and other charitable organizations in the local communities they serve.

CHS Lake Region held a pulled pork and BBQ feed in conjunction with a silent auction at the KC Hall in Devils Lake during the month of March to help raise food and funds. They continued to accept donations during the month of March. Donations were accepted in the form of food, grain or dollars. This event CHS Lake Region raised $4,020.00. With the addition of the matching funds CHS supplied, CHS Lake Region was able to donate $8,020.00.

These funds are divided between The Hope Center in Devils Lake and the Great Plains Food Bank in Fargo.

“It’s exciting and inspiring to see our communities, our employees and local producers working together to help those in need. Through CHS Harvest for Hunger and the value of the cooperative system, every dollar and donation is magnified to make a much greater difference in the fight against hunger,” says Mark Greicar.
