LRSC Key Event brings Las Vegas to the Lake Region
Nearly everyone at the LRSC Foundation Office has gone Las Vegas as they gear up for another unique Key Event.
Carol Leevers and the Key Event committee have gone out of their way once again to plan an exciting evening filled with costumes, games, prizes and food - this year with a Casino Royale theme in mind.
Remember, what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas!
Well, what happens at the Casino Royale Key Event stays in the Lake Region in the support it gives to the college and the foundation.
Laurel Goulding and Diane Gunderson from the Foundation Office are thrilled about this year’s event and hope that everyone will get into the theme.
How does one dress for an event of this magnitude? Use your imagination and if you need a reference - try watching Diamonds Are Forever from 1971, or Meet me in Las Vegas from 1956, Rain Man from 1988, Showgirls from 1995 or even Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery from 1997. Whether it’s the glitz and glamor of old Las Vegas, the Bugsy Siegel era or a more modern twist - you’ll no doubt find an Elvis or two - who could ever forget Viva, Las Vegas with Ann-Margaret and the King, himself?
The Key Event is slated for Friday, Oct. 26 starting with a social hour at 5 p.m. in the Ramsey County Memorial Building.
The walls and halls of the building will be lined with items donated from individuals and businesses from all around the region.
A few of the prizes donated so far for either the silent auction or the live auction during the evening include nearly 100 items donated from the estate of Vivian Hoghaug, a High Rolling Casino Italian Dinner for 12 - a seven course dinner with fine wine, a Cinco de Mayo Party for six couples on May 4 - the winner will go home with a Jimmy Buffet Margarita mixer, a Valentine Dinner for 12, two tickets to a Las Vegas Show in Las Vegas, four UND vs Denver hockey tickets, a night’s stay at Ackerman Acres Resort, a 2007 Suzuki Scooter, Bergman 650 Executive, an original painting by Anne-Marit Bergstrom, a Case IH Kegerator, two tickets to Wynonna’s Rocking Christmas Show and meet and greet at the Spirit Lake Casino Resort, four George Strait concert tickets at the Alerus, a solar bird bath, a hall tree coat rack, Toro mower, Toro leaf blower, hand-made mirror, materials and labor to paint one 12 x 12 room, a Jimmy Choo designer cowhide handbag, a scenic float plane ride, one dozen kolaches, rosemaled child’s rocking chair, meat bundles and much, much, MUCH more!
The evening will feature a Lucky Lady raffle where indeed three ladies who purchase raffle tickets will be visited by Lady Luck and take home beautiful new jewelry.
There will be a Spin to Win roulette-type wheel where every spin is a winner.
Heads-or-Tails cash is a new spin on the 50/50 drawing with only 300 chances to be sold.
Have your photo taken in the “Fly High Arch” and you will be entered to win a five-day, fur-night stay in fabulous Las Vegas. As a bonus, you will be presented with two $100 tickets to a Vegas show, too, and don’t forget, a complimentary copy of yur photo just for entering.
The Wonderful Wall of Wine is back again this year, two winners will be drawn.
