Former residents plan concerts for this week in Devils Lake

Professional musicians and brothers Sean Neukom, viola, and Jason Neukom, violin, return to their hometown of Devils Lake for a number of musical performances in the days ahead. They with Aviva Hakanoglu on violin and Ryan Ash on cello comprise the BEO String Quartet based in Pittsburgh, PA.

Two former Devils Lake residents will be returning to their hometown for their winter tour of North Dakota.

The Beo String Quartet, based in Pittsburgh, PA, is comprised of brothers Jason Neukom on violin and Sean Neukom on viola with Aviva Hakanoglu on violin and Ryan Ash on cello.

During the school day the string quartet will work with Devils Lake Public School string students, collaborating with them on several performances of music that has been specifically composed for them. They will present concerts and workshops throughout the state at schools and other venues.

Their first concert in Devils Lake will be held Thursday, Jan. 30 at 7:30 p.m. in the Central Middle School Band Room. On Saturday, Feb. 1, Beo will perform along with the North Dakota Middle Level Honors Orchestra, under the direction of Jane Linde Capistran. This program begins at 2 p.m. in the Central Middle School Gymnasium and features nearly 100 of the best middle school string students from around the state. Beo will perform along with these students in one selection. The performances are free of charge and open to the public.

ND Middle Level Honors Orchestra: The North Dakota Middle Level honors Orchestra will be hosted at Central Middle School both Friday, Jan. 31 and Saturday, Feb. 1. Four Devils Lake Central Middle School students have auditioned successfully to perform in the group: Isabella Tangedal, Morgan Prince, Savannah McKay and Brooke Wayman. they will participate in the concert which will be held on Saturday, Feb. 1 at 2 p.m. in the CMS Gym. This concert is also free and open to the public.
