Diane Gunderson of the Community College Foundation is cataloging the donations that have already poured in for the Key Event “Hocus Pocus” coming this Friday evening in the Memorial Building beginning at 6 p.m.

Each day more and more donations are pouring in to the Foundation Office as the 2017 Key Event nears.

This year’s theme is “Hocus Pocus” and everyone is expected to have a “wicked good time” celebrating the Lake Region State College and supporting the Community College Foundation.

Silent auction bidding begins at 6 p.m. during the social hour, followed by a “Dinner to Die For” at 7 p.m. with Opportunities Auction beginning at 8:30 p.m. and lasting until 10 p.m.

What to look for this year

Look for two “walls of wine” at this year’s event. The witches’ wall will feature the high-end wines and the BOOze Wall will feature several bottles of the lower-end vintages.

Up for auction this year - some on the silent auction and some on the live auction - you will see several baskets of home made preserves and syrups, carved wooden walleyes and a willow basket created by Dennis Kitsch, a 4x4 John Deere Gator, donated clocks, carpets, patio furniture, wall hangings, an original painting by Anne Marit Bergstrom, an electric lawn mower, home decor items, a 65” flat screen TV, antique ceramic items and countless donated items and baskets from businesses and individuals throughout the Lake Region who support the college and its foundation.

Each year Carol Leevers and her crew try to outdo themselves as they present games and entertainment for a fun-filled evening. This year is no exception with games like “Spooky Loot,” and “99 bottles of beer on the wall” to name just two.

Several throughout the community have donated parties up for bid, like children’s birthday parties and the “Wine and Swine” party that promises great wine and hors d'oeuvres all made from pork (or swine).

There is a two-week stay in a cabin on Wood Lake up for auction, a one-week stay in a condo in Florida and a trip to Lake Beltain in Minnesota.

Sports fans will enjoy bidding on the UND game which will be in progress as the Key Event takes place. They also will have plenty to choose from with items like tables and stools in either Bison or Fighting Hawks colors - winner’s choice.

Jim Wang has donated his team of Clydesdales for a sleigh ride. There is an original Mark Lusardi piece, an autographed Stefon Diggs photo, galvanized metal cutouts of NDSU Bison and UND.

Add to that list “Hairball” concert tickets, tickets to professional sporting events and the final item on the live auction: “Danger and Diamond” where the winner will take home one fabulous diamond and two guns.
