Lake Region State College advertising students had the opportunity to design a new logo for Marketplace Motors.

Dr. Donna Gutschmidt, professor in the LRSC Marketing/Management program, assigned her students to three different groups to design different logos.

After meeting with Marketplace Motors General Manger Jeremy Devier, students were tasked with the assignment of a new logo that was striking, current, and met the client requirements.

“The purpose of creating groups keeps the competitive spirit alive in the classroom.  The students do not know what the other students are creating until the final designs are presented to the judges,” Gutschmidt said.” This also allows the business owner to have several different designs to consider.”

In this case, Devier took the final designs back to Marketplace-Ford-Lincoln and the employees helped select the new logo.

The winning team members of the design logo competition were:  Ross Olson, Kensi Eisenzimmer, and Andy Tofsrud.

Each of the team members received a scholarship from Marketplace Motors.

“When it came down to the last final weeks we designed many different styles. The design that was selected was the one that stood out the best, had the best detail, and was very eye-catching,” said marketing major Kayla Anderson.
