BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) — The North Dakota Aeronautics Commission says airline boardings at North Dakota's eight commercial airports were up 4 percent in May over last year.

But the numbers were down at three of the state's four largest airports, with Minot showing the only increase — a whopping 76 percent.

All four of the state's smaller regional airports showed increases, with Dickinson and Williston each up more than 50 percent.

Aeronautics Commissioner Larry Taborski says people are finding out that they can fly from their local airport to anywhere in the world.

Boardings across the state rose to 66,716 in May, from 64,164 in May 2010.
