New Rockford-Sheyenne/Maddock was ranked No. 1 for the sixth straight week in the NDAPSSA polls released Wednesday.

The Rockets received 15 out of 19 first-place votes for the second week in a row.

NR-S/M extended its winning streak to 18 with an 80-12 thumping of Midway/Minto last Friday. The squad put up 52 points in the first quarter alone. Quarterback Easton Simon was a perfect 11-for-11 in passing, throwing for 289 yards. Thomas Allmaras led the deep receiving corps with 111 yards and three touchdowns.

The Rockets’ defense shut out Midway/Minto in the second half.

NR-S/M is now 6-0 on the season, coming off last year’s state championship. It’s outscored opponents 384-76. Over the 18-game winning streak, it’s outscored opponents 1,111-206. Each win has come by at least 26 points.

No. 2 LaMoure-Litchville/Marion, which the Rockets beat in last year’s state title game, is still undefeated as well at 5-0. The Loboes most recently beat Griggs/Midkota 57-0. They’ve outscored opponents 293-75. They trail NR-S/M by 17 points in the poll, with three first-place votes.

The Rockets have nearby Nelson County next on their schedule. The Chargers are 4-2, on the bubble of making the playoffs.

The orders of Nos. 1-5 remained the same as last week in both nine-man and Division A football.

In Division A, Langdon Area/Munich received 18 out of 19 first-place votes and 94 points for the second straight week. It’s the fifth consecutive week overall that the Cardinals have been ranked No. 1.

No. 2 Killdeer received the remaining first-place vote. It trails LA/M by 29 points.

The Cardinals are 6-0, most recently beating Thompson 34-6. They’ve allowed just 32 total points in six games. LA/M is vying for its first state title since 2020.

The Cardinals travel to play Carrington (2-4) this Friday before a big game next week against No. 4 Park River Area (6-0).
