The Firebirds beat Wahpeton 34-28 on Friday to improve to 2-1. It was their second straight win, following a season-opening loss to No. 2 Kindred.
Last week, they moved into the rankings in a tie for No. 5 with Central Cass.
Grand Forks Red River, previously ranked No. 4, fell out of the top five after a 45-14 loss to No. 1 Minot North. The Roughriders are 1-2 overall. In their place, Devils Lake moved up to No. 4 and Central Cass took sole possession of the No. 5 spot.
