Devils Lake football is ranked for the first time in 2025.

The Firebirds didn’t even receive any votes after they lost 42-12 to No. 2 Kindred in the season opener. But after beating then-No. 3 Central Cass on Friday, 28-21, they moved into a tie for No. 5 in the NDAPSSA polls released Monday.

Central Cass shares the final spot in the top five. Both teams received 11 points, and both teams have 1-1 records.

Minot North is still the No. 1, leading the way with 14 first-place votes and 82 points. Kindred received the remaining three first-place votes, with 71 overall points, after beating an AAA team in West Fargo Horace on Friday.

The top three teams in AA — Minot North, Kindred and Grand Forks Central — are all 2-0.

Grand Forks Central (1-1) leads Devils Lake at No. 4 with 27 points.

The Firebirds host Wahpeton (0-2) in their homecoming game this Friday at 6 p.m. They’ll open conference play Sept. 26 at home against Jamestown. On Oct. 10, they travel to play No. 1 Minot North.

Fargo Davies dominated the AAA poll also released Monday.
