Devils Lake had eight golfers compete in the girls’ Grand Forks Invitational at Grand Forks Country Club on Monday.

Two of them broke 100. Six of them set their personal bests.

Devils Lake came in 11th place out of 11 teams, but its +136 was four strokes better than in the same event last year. Fifth-place Grand Forks Central shot a +105. West Fargo Sheyenne won the meet with a +21.

The Firebirds were led by Tylie Brodina, who shot a 96 overall. Her best this season is 95, set in the first round of the East/West Classic.

Charly Black also broke 100 with a 98. She broke her previous best of 103.

Addy Klemetsrud also improved significantly. She shot a 102; her previous scores this season were 132, 132 and 136.

Camila Quinonez posted the Firebirds’ fourth-best score of the day with a 111. Her best is 100, set last year in the EDC meet.

Saige Stafford, Mara Hogness and Brynlee Homan each beat their personal best with a 119, 120 and 121, respectively.

Emmy Remmick rounded out the group of eight. She shot a 127 in what was her varsity debut.

The next action for the Devils Lake girls’ golf team will be their first home meet since the program was reinstated. The Devils Lake Invitational is scheduled for 10 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 22 at Creel Bay Golf Course.
