In the last two weeks, three Royals have been named Player of the Week in the Mon-Dak Athletic Conference.

Nicole Lillard won it last week for the Lake Region State College women’s basketball team. The recognition came for her performance in Jan. 5’s game against Dawson Community College, where she put up 20 points and nine rebounds. She added six assists, two steals and two blocks in that game, an 81-71 win.

Lillard, a sophomore, recently received an offer from New Mexico Highlands University.

This past week, LRSC won Player of the Week on both the men’s and women’s side. Ginuwine Tropnas won it for the men’s team, while Kiara Holweger took it for the women’s squad.

Tropnas had two double-doubles this week. He put up 19 points and 10 rebounds in a 75-66 win over Dakota College at Bottineau on Jan. 12. He followed that up with a 12-point, 10-rebound performance in a loss to Williston State College on Jan. 13. The sophomore is practically averaging a double-double with 13.8 points and 8.6 rebounds per game.

Holweger has broken out for LRSC this season after receiving minimal playing time on last year’s deep Royals team. She had a double-double with 14 points and 13 rebounds in Jan. 12’s win over Bottineau. On the season, she’s averaging 8.1 points and 9.0 rebounds.

The LRSC basketball teams are in action this Sunday against North Dakota State College of Science.
