Devils Lake football is back to familiar territory: No. 3 in Class AA.

The Firebirds were previously boosted up to No. 3 after their win over then-No. 2 Jamestown on Sept. 13. After losing to unranked Wahpeton on Sept. 27, they dropped two spots to No. 5.

Now, after beating Fargo South 28-7 this past Friday, the NDAPSSA voters moved them right back up to No. 3. Devils Lake is 4-2 overall and 1-1 in conference matchups. It received 57 points.

Jamestown (22 points) still trails Devils Lake in the No. 4 slot. Everybody trails Grand Forks Red River (6-0, 2-0), which received all 20 of the first-place votes and 100 points. West Fargo Horace (5-1, 2-0) has been holding steady at No. 2, and received 80 points this week.

Devils Lake plays Horace on the road this Friday at 6 p.m. It’ll be the current No. 2 and No. 3 teams facing off.
