DEVILS LAKE — The Royals were right there. But head coach Steve Waddell felt their performance wasn’t cohesive enough Wednesday night.
“We’ve been fighting a lot the last couple matches,” Waddell said. “We’re throwing some people in some spots that they might not be comfortable with, so that’s doing a little bit to us. Like we were talking about, we’re right there for about 75% of the match, and then we kind of lose focus, and that’s where we end up.”
Lake Region State College (8-17, 1-7) fell in straight sets to Miles Community College (10-14, 5-4) at the Devils Lake Sports Center. The Royals scored 23 and 21 points in the first two sets, respectively. They even fought back in the third set, which looked like a blowout early on. But despite the effort, it went down as a 3-0 loss all the same.
