New Rockford-Sheyenne/Maddock football is now ranked No. 3 in nine-man football, per the latest NDAPSSA poll released Wednesday.

The Rockets, previously ranked No. 5, unleashed a commanding 60-14 victory last week against North Prairie, which came into the game ranked No. 2. North Prairie dropped out of the ranking entirely, while NR-S/M moved up two spots.

The Rockets are 3-0 this season. They’re yet to win a game by fewer than 30 points.

NR-S/M received two first-place votes from the 18 voters who participated this week. No. 1 LaMoure-Litchville/Marion took 13 of them. The remaining three went to No. 2 Westhope/Newburg/Glenburn, which received 66 points compared to the Rockets’ 58.

South Prairie remained in the No. 4 slot, while Linton/HMB/S-Z moved up to No. 5. North Prairie did still receive at least one top-five vote.

In the simultaneously released Division A poll, Langdon Area/Munich fell out of the top five despite winning in Week 3. The Cardinals were ranked No. 2 after their season-opening win, then dropped to No. 4 after losing to Central Cass in Week 2. Now, after barely squeezing out a 43-42 win over Harvey/Wells County on Friday, they received votes but dropped out of the ranking.

H/WC is an 0-3 team that got blown out 36-0 by Velva/Drake-Anamoose/Garrison the week prior. The voters penalized the Cardinals for playing down to their competition, despite the fact that they pulled out the victory.

Kindred remained the unanimous No. 1 in Division A.

NR-S/M begins region play this Thursday at home against Nelson County (1-2). LA/M, already 1-0 in region play, plays Turtle Mountain (1-2, 0-1) on the road.
