Langdon Area/Munich was ranked second in Division A in the second week of NDHSAA football polls released Thursday.
The Cardinals were No. 3 in the preseason poll. They went on to beat Oakes 32-6 in their season opener. Their home debut is scheduled for Friday, Aug. 30, against Central Cass — the team that beat Devils Lake in the first week.
Kindred still dominated the Division A polls with all 16 of the first-place votes. Central Cass is ranked third, directly behind LA/M.
The Cardinals are coming off an 11-1 season, and haven’t had a losing year in football since 2015.
In the nine-man poll, New Rockford-Sheyenne/Maddock leapt into fifth place after a 69-0 victory over St. John. The Rockets were unranked in the preseason poll, but did receive votes.
NR-S/M is on the road again in Week 2 with a game against Cavalier, an unranked team that did receive at least one vote.
LaMoure-Litchville/Marion (seven first-place votes, 59 points) narrowly leads the nine-man poll over second-place North Prairie (six first-place votes, 58 points).
In Division AA, Devils Lake did not receive any votes this week after falling 34-27 to Central Cass in its season opener. The Firebirds put up a fight against the Squirrels, but their comeback effort fell just short and they were plagued by false starts.
Devils Lake was unranked in the preseason poll, but received at least one vote.
The Firebirds will play their first home game of the season on Friday against Watford City.
