Devils Lake girls’ golf got its third meet of the season going on Thursday, and its second of the two-day variety.
After the first of two rounds in the Wahpeton Invitational, Devils Lake finds itself in 10th place out of 11 teams with a score of +178. Grand Forks Central narrowly trails it with a +181. West Fargo Sheyenne, which won the East/West Classic, is in first with a +42.
After Ava Beck posted Devils Lake’s best score in the first two meets, Tylie Brodina was the Firebirds’ most efficient golfer this time around. She finished her round in 112 strokes. Beck was right behind her at 115.
Jackie Juarez was third among the Firebirds with a 117, her personal best of the season thus far.
Only five Firebirds officially competed in this meet, compared to six in the previous contests. Abby Troy and Karlyn Rardon sat out this one. Brianna Edwardson, meanwhile, got her first action of the season and posted a score of 155.
The Wahpeton Invitational wraps up Friday morning. The closest team that Devils Lake trails is ninth-place West Fargo Horace (+154, difference of 24 strokes).
