Baseball regionals

New Rockford-Sheyenne 11, Carrington 1: The Black Sox run-ruled the No. 1 seed to advance to the Region III final. Easton Simon threw six innings of one-run ball with no walks allowed, and Brody Weisenburger went 4-for-4 with three RBIs.

Hatton/Northwood 9, Nelson County/Midkota 7: The Chargers’ comeback fell just short. They scored five in the fifth to cut their deficit to 6-5, then two in the sixth to go ahead. They allowed one in the seventh and two in the eighth. Brody Rainsberry went 4-for-5 and also pitched all eight innings, allowing nine runs (five earned) on 16 hits and zero walks. Thus ended the Chargers’ season. Preston Lee, Zach Gibson and Gage Flaagan were named All-Region.

Bottineau 5, North Star 3: Dane Hagler struck out 11 in seven innings. The Bearcats trailed 2-1 until Hunter Hagler put them up 3-2 with an RBI triple in the sixth. D. Hagler allowed three runs in the top of the seventh.

Bottineau 9, North Star 5: D. Hagler reached base four times, and Brody Svir had three hits. But the Bearcats couldn’t overcome a five-run fourth inning, and their season came to an end. After falling behind 7-2, they had the potential tying run on second base in the sixth.

LaMoure-Litchville/Marion 2, New Rockford-Sheyenne 0: Keaton Cudworth allowed two runs (one earned) in 6 1/3 innings, but the Black Sox only recorded four hits in the shutout. It brought the teams to a do-or-die game to get into the state tournament.

LaMoure-Litchville/Marion 2, New Rockford-Sheyenne 9: Skye Kramlich allowed two runs (none earned) in seven innings. Every Black Sox starter recorded one hit — no more, no less — as the team punched a ticket to state.
