The DLJ’s own, Andrew Benjamin, got the bronze medal at the Submission Challenge grappling tournament Saturday. The grappling tournament took place at the Courts Plus Community Center in Fargo where hundreds of grapplers tested themselves against opponents from all over the country.

Andrew competed in the blue belt division in the 145 lbs division in both no-gi and gi. He went 2-1 in no-gi, winning both his matches by toe-hold submission and winning the bronze medal. While he did not fare as well in gi, going 0-2, he was very happy to compete, something he hadn’t done in a long time.

“I just want to thank my team at Progressive Martial Arts,” he said. “The coaches, Ken and Josh, and everyone who came out provided invaluable advice and great energy to help me win bronze, something I have never done in a tournament. I look forward to the next competition and competing at an even better level.”
