Between the two Brodina brothers on the Devils Lake varsity basketball team — both of whom are starters — Parker is usually the one with more points in a given game. But Beau had the game of his life on Friday, tying a school record with nine three-pointers. He scored a career-high 33 overall.
That’s one way to help the team bounce back from its first loss in nearly two months.
Suffice to say, the No. 2 Firebirds are back in the win column. They beat Wahpeton 71-48 and are now 17-2 overall. They have two games left in the regular season, both of which are against inferior region opponents. At 5-2 in region play, they currently sit in third place, but they’re only one game behind first-place Grafton and a half-game behind second-place Four Winds/Minnewaukan.

What to watch
Devils Lake girls’ hockey will conclude its regular season at 1 p.m. against Bismarck Century, looking to get back in the win column before the state tournament. Devils Lake will likely be the No. 6 seed but could still fall to No. 7.
No. 3 Four Winds/Minnewaukan boys’ basketball will play its penultimate home game of the regular season at 6 p.m. The Indians, fresh off an absurd 100-34 win over Carrington, will face a solid Shiloh Christian team that received votes in the latest polls but was not ranked. The Skyhawks are 14-5 overall and 4-1 in Region 4, while the Indians are 13-4 overall and 6-2 in Region 2.
