Nolan Dix was one of three broadcasters voted into the NDAPSSA Hall of Fame on Feb. 5. He appeared on 77.5% of ballots, surpassing the 75% needed to make it in.
The other two were Lee Timmerman with 90% and Scooter Pursley with 77.5%.
Dix is a native of Starkweather, North Dakota, a town of 117 people 27 minutes up the road from Devils Lake. He’s married and a father of four.
Dix has been doing broadcast radio since 1992. He’s currently the general manager and sports director of KNDC 1490, a radio station in Hettinger, North Dakota. He was named North Dakota Sportscaster of the Year in 2001 and got the North Dakota High School Coaches Association Award of Merit in 2014.
“It was kind of a shock,” Dix said. “It’s cool because I’m going in with Lee Timmerman and Scooter Pursley, two guys that started before me. And then we’re joining a lot of the really great broadcasters in North Dakota — Mark Beighley being one of them. He’s one I listened to growing up… It’s a pretty good honor. You work long enough, I guess you get to get honored.”
