Thursday is set to be a big day of high school basketball, with No. 2 Devils Lake and No. 3 Four Winds/Minnewaukan boys’ basketball both returning to the court and playing region opponents.
The Firebirds (13-1, 3-1) are on the road against Hillsboro/Central Valley (6-6, 1-3) at 7:30 p.m. The Burros recently ended the undefeated streak of North Star, the No. 3 team in Division B. The Firebirds and Burros met back in December and Devils Lake won handily, 83-41.
The Indians (10-3, 3-1), meanwhile, have a tougher task ahead of them Thursday night as they travel to play No. 4 Grafton at 7 p.m. The Spoilers are in first place in Region 2 with a 10-2 overall record and 4-1 region record. When these teams met in December, Grafton won 74-47. That was FW/M’s very first game of the season. A lot has changed since then, and the Indians are currently edging out the Spoilers in the polls, but Thursday’s matchup will be a more telling test of who’s truly the better team.
