High school basketball took its usual break on Sunday, but the Lake Region State College basketball teams both had hard fights at Devils Lake Sports Center. The women kept their winning ways going, while the men fell just short.
Highlights
The lady Royals have now won 11 of their last 12 games after this latest victory, a 66-57 win over first-place Williston State College. LRSC now sits in third place in the Mon-Dak Athletic Conference. Head coach Ryan Clark has praised their defensive ability all season long, and now their shots are starting to fall with some more frequency as well.
The men, meanwhile, suffered another frustrating loss, a game they were very much in contention to win. They fell 79-75 to the Tetons despite leading for the majority of the game.

What to watch
The main attraction for Devils Lake sports fans to pay attention to on Monday will be the weekly polls released around 4 p.m.
The boys, ranked No. 2 last week, have gone 2-0 since, with a dominant 77-31 win over Carrington and a gutsy 89-82 victory over Grand Forks Central. No. 1 Kindred went 2-0 as well. No. 3 Four Winds/Minnewaukan won its lone game of the week, beating Thompson 62-31.
Devils Lake girls’ basketball, ranked No. 4 last week, also won both its games since the last polls — a 52-44 win over Carrington and a 53-29 win against Grand Forks Central.
All Devils Lake and FW/M teams are off Monday, but several Lake Region teams have road games. The Benson County boys’ and girls’ teams play at Drake-Anamoose at 1 and 4:15 p.m., respectively. The North Star and New Rockford-Sheyenne girls face Midway/Minto and Griggs-Midkota, respectively, both on the road at 7:30 p.m.
