Wednesday was a rewarding night for the Lake Region State College women’s basketball team, which bounced back after a tough loss, beating one of the toughest opponents in the Mon-Dak Athletic Conference.

Highlights

The lady Royals took home a thrilling 58-51 win over North Dakota State College of Science on Wednesday. Tiyahna Trottier led the scoring with 23 points. For more on Trottier’s performance and the victory, read here.

The men also played the Wildcats but weren’t so fortunate, falling 87-53 to a team that’s only lost one game all season. For more on that contest, read here.

In the only high school basketball action of the day, the Warwick girls beat White Shield 75-47. It was the Warriors’ second win of the year.

What to watch

Four Winds/Minnewaukan girls’ basketball will be playing on Thursday against a tough opponent in No. 1 Thompson. The Tommies are 14-0 and 5-0 in Region 2 play. The Indians are 6-8 (2-4). Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. at Four Winds High School.

North Star girls’ basketball (7-7, 3-3, 2-1) also plays at home against Park River/Fordville-Lankin (8-7, 5-5, 5-4) at 7 p.m.

The Devils Lake boys’ hockey team (6-10-1, 3-9) is on the road, trying to end a three-game losing streak against Grand Forks Central (13-2, 8-2) at 7:30 p.m. Come out to Purpur Arena to support the Firebirds.
