The Class A Boys Shootout, which began Friday, will wrap up on Saturday with some of the best teams in Division A facing off against each other.
Highlights
The No. 2 Four Winds/Minnewaukan and No. 3 Devils Lake boys’ basketball teams both took home dominant wins in the Class A Shootout on Friday. The teams will return to play ranked opponents on Saturday. For more on both games, read here and here, respectively.
The No. 4 Devils Lake girls’ basketball team lost on the road to No. 1 Thompson, which has won all 13 of its games. It was a defensive game all around, with the Firebirds falling 50-29. It ended a four-game winning streak for the girls, who are 9-4 overall and 3-2 in Region 2. They’ll be back in action at home against Carrington on Tuesday.
Both Devils Lake hockey teams played Friday as well. The boys lost at home, 5-1, to first-place Grand Forks Red River. For more on that game, read here. The girls won in a shootout on the road against Minot, after the score was 1-1 in regulation. They improved to 5-8 on the season.

What to watch
The Class A Boys Shootout continues in Devils Lake on Saturday with some exciting games on tap. No. 3 Devils Lake faces No. 5 Beulah at 3:30 p.m., while No. 2 Four Winds/Minnewaukan plays No. 1 Kindred at 5 p.m. The Firebirds and Indians are riding six and nine-game winning streaks, respectively.
Devils Lake girls’ hockey also plays again Saturday after Friday’s thrilling win. The Firebirds are on the road against Williston at 1 p.m.
North Star boys’ basketball, the No. 2 team in Division B, will look to improve to 11-0 against Carrington. The game will be held at North Star High School with a 1:30 p.m. start time.
