Tuesday’s action in the Lake Region featured several girls’ basketball games around the area.

Four Winds/Minnewaukan lost a close one on the road, 43-39, to Carrington. The loss dropped the Indians to 4-7 overall and 1-4 in Region 2. FW/M sits in fifth place in the region, while Carrington is in third place with its 3-2 region record. Devils Lake is right ahead at 2-1 (6-3 overall).

The Indians’ next game is against 1-8 Beulah on Thursday at Devils Lake Sports Center. Tip-off is scheduled for 6 p.m.

The North Star girls lost to North Prairie at home, 56-28. The Bearcats are seventh out of nine teams in Division B, Region 2, District 3 — they’re 6-5 overall, 3-1 in region play and 1-1 in district play.

Benson County girls’ basketball won its first district matchup of the season, beating Griggs-Midkota 70-36. The Wildcats are 7-3 overall, 2-3 in Region 2 and now 1-0 in District 4. They have another district game on Thursday at Northwood High School to take on the Hatton/Northwood Thunder. H/N sits first in District 4 with a 6-3 overall record and 1-0 district record — but a win from the Wildcats would push them to the top.

It was a quieter day on the boys’ side, but No. 4 Devils Lake has a massive game coming on Thursday against No. 1 Grafton. It’s set to commence at 7:15 p.m. at Devils Lake Sports Center.

There’s also a pair of Lake Region State College basketball games happening in Devils Lake Wednesday evening. The men’s and women’s teams are both riding winning streaks and will look to continue them against Bismarck State. The women’s game begins at 6:30 p.m., while the men’s game starts at 8:30.
