The Golden Eagles have continued to make a priority on finding athletes from northwest Minnesota and eastern North Dakota. In addition, they have also prioritized keeping talent in Minnesota. Minnesota Crookston’s class includes eight Minnesotans, five North Dakotans, one South Dakotan, one from Illinois, and one from China. The Golden Eagles have signed three junior college transfers (Camacho, Odenbach, and Zhu), 12 high school signees, and Smith who will join the team next semester.

“We are extremely excited to announce our 2024 recruiting class,” said Head Coach Steve Gust. “We feel the class addresses the future needs of our ball club. It starts with the pitchers. We feel we signed guys that are very projectable. The class is also very athletic and has some good size. We expect these guys will contribute sooner rather than later. All of them have a chance to help us in the future.”

The Golden Eagles are coming off their best season in program history, going 38-20 (26-10 NSIC). They set their program high for season wins and conference wins. In addition, they swept the NSIC player awards at the conclusion of the season. Jake Hjelle (R-Sr., OF/1B, East Grand Forks, Minn.) is the reigning NSIC Player of the Year, and was the NCBWA National Player of the Year. Josh Dykhoff (So., RHP/1B, Wadena, Minn.) was the NSIC Freshman of the Year, and an all-region selection. The Golden Eagles have made the NSIC Tournament five times in the last nine seasons.

The student-athletes listed as having signed a National Letter of Intent or Offer of Admission to play baseball at the University of Minnesota Crookston have been verified by the Minnesota Crookston compliance office once they sign the National Letter of Intent or once the student-athlete has accepted an Offer of Admission for Minnesota Crookston.

Jackson Baeth (IF, 6-1 215, Devils Lake, N.D./Devils Lake H.S.) Baeth led his team in RBI’s three seasons. He also was his team’s home run leader.

He is the son of Kirk Baeth and Lisa Flynn. Baeth plans to major in exercise science. His cousin Zachary Kluvers plays baseball at North Dakota State University.

“Jackson is the true definition of a student-athlete,” Gust said. “He is an impact player in high school and a great student. He works hard and is a passionate baseball player. We’ve had good luck with players that have his attributes. We are excited to work with him for four years.”
