The Wissota Street Stocks were the show on Saturday Night. With a tight battle and position swaps back-n-forth throughout the feature. Although the feature was full of action. With the action came its fair share of drama. Shane Swanson of Devils Lake was charged with an early caution for spinning in Corner #One which sent him to the back for the field. Swanson charged through the field and struck the #30 car of Seth Klostreich of Grand Forks coming into corner four causing the #30 car to spin. Track officials felt it was done on purpose and the Black Flag was presented to Swanson. Swanson was Dqd for the night for Rough Driving. Klostreich would then have to come off the track for a tire change. Klostreich would return to take the back to the field and redeem himself to finish in the fifth place position. Tucker Pederson of East Grand Forks, MN would charge up through the field to finish first with Mike Mund of Milnor finishing second and Brian Johanson of Edmore finished third.
It was a high flyin’ battle to the end in the Wissota Midwest Mods. Preston Carr of Carrington held off Matthew Duchscherer of New Rockford to take the checkered flag. Duchscherer would finish second with Ryne Uhrich of Langdon finishing third.
It was the Last Night for the Wissota Late Models for the 2023 Season. Erik Haugland of Lawton took an early lead in the Feature. Holding off the Veteran Late Model Drivers of our Area. Holding off Last Week’s Golden Hammer Classic Winner Joey Pederson of East Grand Forks. To claim his first Offical Wissota Late Model win. Joey Pederson settled for second with Brad Seng of Grand Forks finishing third.
Brody Troftgruben of Grand Forks is the 2023 Track Points Champion for the Late Model Division with John Seng of Grand Forks finishing second and Brad Seng finishing third.
Hudson Hooker of Rugby started in the back of the field and moved all the way to the front passing Joe Armstrong of Crary and eventually taking the leaf. With some cautions to fight his way through, Hudson was able to hold off old man Joe to take the checkered flag. Armstrong would finish second and Erik Busche of Jamestown would finish third.
The Devils Lake Speedway has two days of racing planned for Labor Day Weekend. Saturday will be Night 1 of the Non-Wing Nationals plus Track Championship Night. Along with Hall of Fame Night, Rob Hach of Devils Lake will be inducted into the Hall of Fame. Races on Saturday will start at 7 p.m. Sunday will be Night 2 of the Non-Wing Nationals and the final points night for Track Points. Plus, the ever popular tradition of Powder Puff and Mechanics Race. Sunday Night races will start at 6 p.m.
