Ramsey County 4-H has recently completed a very successful year of shotgun instruction and competition. Instruction is held at the Lake Region Shooting Range and volunteer instructors meet with participants from June through the state match which is held in August.
State Match results for Ramsey County include three individuals qualifying to represent North Dakota at National Competition next June; Madison Knoke, Adam Sobolik and Rebecca Morstad.
Knoke was the top senior overall individual, second in sporting clays, third overall skeet and top senior trap award. Sobolik was second overall individual, first place skeet and third place trap. Morstad was fifth high individual, fifth in skeet and fifth in trap. Ben Vetsch was sixth high individual and first in sporting clays. Brayden Berg was junior high individual overall. He also was first place junior individual in sporting clays, skeet and trap.
A huge shout out to our volunteer coaches: Doug Darling, Norm Howard, Tom Stoe, Trisha Berg, Dave McElhaney, Devan Sundeen, Warren Blanchfield, Mike Graue, Darin MacDonald and Morgan Pain. This program could not be successful without their commitment.
This year’s shotgun instruction was sponsored by North Dakota Hunters Education Association. They donate $1200 to help cover the cost of clays for the program.
