The Royals Volleyball team had another successful week going 4-1 and finishing their home tournament unbeaten. Also this week, the team surpassed the 20 win mark and solidified a third place finish in the Mon-Dak Conference after finishing in last place the past two seasons.

The Royals played at home for the entire week starting with hosting Bismarck State on Wednesday, October 12th. Bismarck is currently ranked #15 in the nation, and they proved their ranking against the Royals. The Royals fought hard in the match, but ended up dropping the match by a score of 0-3. They had a strong lead in the second set, but couldn’t hold on to take a set from the Mystics.

Over the weekend, the Royals hosted a seven team tournament in Devils Lake and only dropped one set over four matches. The Royals played Jamestown JV for the fifth time this season, and dropped the first set of the match. They quickly regrouped and took the next three, winning the match 3-1. The next opponent for the Royals was Dawson Community College of Glendive, MT, a fellow Mon-Dak team. The Royals played a solid match and won 3-0. Immediately following the DCC match, the Royals took on Assiniboine Community College out of Canada. The Royals continued their solid play and won by a score of 3-0. Saturday featured just one match for the Royals, and they took care of Trinity Bible of Ellendale, ND in 3 straight sets.

They will travel to Ellendale on Tuesday, October 18th to play Trinity Bible, and then Wahpeton on Wednesday, October 19th for the final match of the season against NDSCS. Play-offs will begin on Sunday, October 23rd when the Royals host Dakota County Technical College in Devils Lake for the first round.
