Through two days of the 2026 girls’ golf season, Devils Lake has set its program record twice.

After opening with a +93 team score on Friday, the Firebirds posted a +85 Monday on the first day of the East/West Classic at Hillcrest Municipal Golf Course in Jamestown. It was good for 15th out of 19 teams through one day of the event, which concludes Tuesday morning.

Junior Charly Black led the way this time.

Black shot an 89, her personal best. It was her first round of the season.

Black’s previous best had been 90, set at last year’s Shanley Invitational.

Junior Camilia Quinonez was the next-best Firebird, shooting a 91 after opening her season with a personal-best 89.

Senior Tylie Brodina posted a 93. She opened the season with an 88.

Junior Brynlee Homan got her first action of the season and shot a 100 on the dot. Sophomore Mara Hogness posted a 101.

Freshman Zoey Burdick also shot a 101. It was just her second varsity meet, as she beat the mark of 108 she put up on Friday.

Devils Lake finished ahead of Wahpeton (+94) by nine strokes, along with Bismarck St. Mary’s (+95), Minot North (+121) and Williston (+139). The Firebirds were four strokes short of 14th-place Dickinson (+81). West Fargo Sheyenne (+32) led the pack after the first day.

The second day of the East/West Classic begins at 8 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 18. The Firebirds’ next action after that is Thursday at Bois de Sioux Golf Course in Wahpeton.
