DEVILS LAKE — The Devils Lake Storm B team faced off against Bottineau Post 42 in Legion baseball action on Thursday, July 9, at DLYA Field. The Storm led 2-0 in the bottom of the fourth when lightning paused the game, and was eventually postponed.
The game began with a scoreless first inning. Devils Lake’s Henley Driessen hit a single deep into right field in the bottom of the first, but was unable to score after the third out ended the inning. In the bottom of the second, the Bottineau infield kept the score at zero by tagging two runners out at home. The Storm got on the board in the bottom of the third after a wild pitch and a groundout by Driessen drove in one run each for a 2-0 score.
A lightning delay paused the game in the bottom of the fourth, initially for 30 minutes. A large downpour occurred soon after, and the game was eventually called off. It will be rescheduled at a later date.
Riley Brenno-Quale started on the mound for Devils Lake, allowing two hits, striking out two and walking three. Emerson Marwm started for Bottineau, allowing three hits and two runs (one earned), striking out four and walking two.
The next scheduled game for Devils Lake Storm B team is an away game against Rugby Post 23 on Monday, July 13, at 5 p.m.
