For the second year in a row, Mya Luehring has been named an all-state softball player.
Luehring was one of 24 players selected by the North Dakota High School Coaches Association to the Class B all-state softball team, which was released early Monday afternoon.
Luehring, a junior, led Nelson County/Midkota to a 13-5 record this season. Typically hitting in the third spot in the order, she batted .661 with a blistering 1.761 OPS. Her OBP and slugging percentage were above .700 and 1.000, respectively.
Luehring tallied 11 doubles, five triples and one home run. She collected 33 RBIs.
Luehring is also the Chargers’ primary pitcher. She threw 88 innings across 16 starts this season, going 12-3 with a 6.31 ERA and 80 strikeouts.
NC/M has gone a combined 23-10 over the last two seasons. The Chargers have gone deep into the region tournament each year, but are still looking to get over the hump and make a state tournament.
Head coach Savannah Kueber said during the season that, in her opinion, Luehring was the best player in Region 2. Luehring ended up as one of five all-state representatives from the region, alongside Cindy Eliason, Kya Hurst and Claire Kolling from Thompson and Maara Kutz from Carrington.
Kueber took home Region 2 Coach of the Year honors following the region tournament.
Luehring was the only Class A or B all-state softball selection from the Lake Region.
Beulah’s Addie Dale-Geiger was named the NDHSCA POWERade Outstanding Senior Athlete for Class B.
Scott Kost from state champion Central Cass was named the SUBWAY Coach of the Year.
