A pair of Four Winds seniors has signed their letters of intent to play sports in college.
The school recently announced that Jonte Delorme and Tyler Black Jr. will be playing at the next level. Delorme committed to play basketball at Turtle Mountain College, while Black Jr. committed to play football at Bismarck State College.
Delorme was one of the key offensive players who helped Four Winds/Minnewaukan reach its first Division A state tournament this winter. He averaged 15 points a game as both an inside and outside attacker. He was selected to the Division A all-state second team.
Turtle Mountain College competes in the Northern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference and finished in third place with a 15-5 record last season, according to the NIAC website.
Black Jr. was also in the starting five of the FW/M state-bound basketball team, but he’ll be continuing his athletic career on the gridiron.
Listed as a tight end and defensive end, an injury wiped out most of Black’s senior football season. As a junior, he helped Four Winds host a playoff game for the first time ever.
BSC is bringing football back to its school after an absence of more than 40 years. The Mystics just recently completed their first year as a four-year institution, rather than a two-year. Their sports teams used to compete in the Mon-Dak alongside Lake Region State College. They’re now a part of the NAIA’s Frontier Conference.
Black Jr. will be a part of the first BSC football team since 1985. Chris Stutzriem was hired in December to coach the program.
