Track and field teams from Langdon Area/Munich, Nelson County, Benson County and Warwick were all in action on Saturday.
The first two competed in the Pembina County Indoor Invitational at Fritz Pollard Athletic Center in Grand Forks. The latter two took part in the North Dakota State Class B Indoor at Shelly Ellig Indoor Track and Field Facility in Fargo.
Pembina County Indoor Invitational
Boys
Team results
LA/M placed third out of seven teams with 79 points.
Nelson County finished fifth with 66 points.
Thompson was victorious, leading the pack with 125 points.
Highlights
Braxton Lindseth led the way for the Cardinals. He took second in the 300-meter (39.79), seventh in the 200-meter (25.30) and 10th in the 60-meter (7.94). The first two marks were listed as personal bests.
TJ Henderson placed second in the triple jump (39’4’’), fourth in the long jump (18’9’’) and sixth in the high jump (5’8’’). His triple jump and high jump scores were personal bests. Caleb McDonald beat Henderson in the high jump, coming in second with a 6’2’’ mark, while he finished right behind Henderson in the triple jump, with a 38’6’’ putting him in third.
Nelson County’s Brody Rainsberry grabbed third and fourth, respectively, in the 60-meter and 200-meter. He set personal bests of 7.45 and 25.00.
Tyler Cree-Beglau won the 800-meter (2:15.08), while Graham Sorlien won the 1500-meter (5:20.48).
Cree-Beglau shined in the jumping events, too, with a first-place triple jump finish (42’8.5’’) and second-place long jump mark (19’5.5’’).
Landon Sundeen won the shot put with a personal-best 43’6’’.
Girls
Team results
LA/M came in third out of eight placing teams with 75 points.
Nelson County was seventh with 21.
Drayton/Valley-Edinburg won the girls’ meet with 152.5 points.
Highlights
LA/M won two relay events: Meggy Hetletved, Ella Goodman, Taya Feist and Hallie Overby in the 4×300 (3:05.74) and Mya Swanson, Olivia Lorenz, Feist and Overby in the 4×600 (7:26.99).
Fenja Lawson and Feist continued their strong work in the shot put and high jump, respectively, each grabbing a second-place finish.
Lorenz was second in the 1500, while Hetletved and Swanson placed third in the 60-meter hurdles and 800-meter run, respectively. Overby was third in the 200 with a personal-best 29.46.
Nelson County’s Dagan Slade placed first in the shot put with a distance of 44’10’’. Slade, a junior, was a state champion in shot put last year.
North Dakota State Class B Indoor
Team results
Benson County tied for seventh out of 19 teams that placed on the girls’ side, scoring 36 points.
Oak Grove Lutheran won the girls’ meet with 77 points.
Benson County did not place on the boys’ side. Kindred was the winner with 109 points.
Warwick also competed but did not place on either side.
Highlights
Benson County junior Evyn Jacobson won the 800- and 1600-meter runs.
Sophomore Hailey Baker added a third-place finish out of seven contestants in the pole vault (7’9’’).
Warwick junior Isabella Baer came in 29th out of 57 contestants in shot put. She recorded a personal-best 26’5.5’’. Baer was one of four Warwick athletes in the event.
Monty Redfox was the lone Warrior to compete on the boys’ side. Others were listed but did not start.

The indoor track and field season has come to an end.
The outdoor season should begin in the coming weeks, barring the slow-developing spring weather.
