Devils Lake High School athletic director Jason Wiberg has been named the Division A State Athletic Administrator of the Year.
The award is given by the North Dakota Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association. Wiberg and the other honorees were presented with their awards on Sunday at the NDIAAA Spring Conference Awards Banquet at the Holiday Inn in Fargo, N.D. The list of winners was released to the media on Monday.
Devils Lake won its first ever football state championship last fall. This winter, the boys’ and girls’ basketball teams both made it to state. The school was also represented by three all-state hockey players. Additionally, Devils Lake has added an upgraded turf baseball field in recent years under Wiberg’s tenure.
Wiberg was announced as the Region 2 Athletic Administrator of the Year at the end of the Region 2 girls’ basketball tournament, which was hosted in Devils Lake. The Devils Lake Sports Center often hosts Division B region tournaments as well, along with the Lake Region Girls’ Basketball Invitational, Ramsey County Boys’ Basketball Tournament and two-day shootouts for boys’ and girls’ basketball.
According to the North Dakota High School Activities Association, Wiberg is in his 29th year in education and 24th as athletic director. He has been the athletic director for Devils Lake since 2010.
Wiberg was honored with this award for Class A in 2019.

Askvig takes Division B honors
Langdon Area High School, athletic director Ethen Askvig was named the Division B State Athletic Administrator of the Year.
Langdon Area, which co-ops with Munich, won state championships in football and volleyball last fall. It also won a boys’ basketball district championship this winter.
