New Rockford-Sheyenne’s Easton Simon was the lone area representative on the Division B boys’ basketball all-state teams.

The selections were announced Tuesday by the North Dakota High School Coaches Association.

Simon was one of 10 players to make the all-state second team.

Simon is perhaps better known for his accomplishments on the football field, where he’s a two-time nine-man state champion quarterback. But, a year after helping the Rockets make it to the state tournament, the senior point guard emerged for 23 points a game. He led an NR-S team that went 17-5 overall, with the No. 2 seed in District 4 during the regular season.

Simon was named the Senior Athlete of the Year for District 4 and Region 2.

Region 2 had two other all-state players, as Midway/Minto’s Eli Robinson and Ezra Robinson both made the second team.

While Simon was one of four players up for the NDHSCA POWERade Outstanding Senior Athlete, the award went to Hankinson’s RaeShaun Earl.

Joi Anderson of state champion Central McLean was named the SUBWAY Coach of the Year.
