Five Lake Region State College basketball players were placed on various all-conference teams for the Mon-Dak.
The LRSC men had two make the second team: Dalen Leftbear and Remy Davis Warrington.
Leftbear, a local Four Winds High School alum, recently completed his first year with the Royals and second year of college basketball. After a year at United Tribes Technical College, he averaged 11.1 points and 5.2 rebounds per game for LRSC. He played in 29 of the Royals’ 31 games, starting 28 of them.
Davis Warrington came to LRSC from a little farther than Leftbear, hailing from Sydney, Australia. He started all 31 games for the Royals this year after playing more of a supporting role as a freshman. He averaged 12.7 points and 5.1 rebounds per game. He also led the team in assists, with 4.0 per game.
Davis Warrington finished his LRSC career with 577 points over two seasons.
Freshman Ikhuoria Osezojie, a Morden, Manitoba, native, was also honored with his selection to the Mon-Dak sportsmanship team. The school’s release noted he was “recognized for his exemplary conduct and leadership.”
The Royals went 13-18 this season, culminating in the first round of the Region XIII playoffs.
The LRSC women’s team had two all-conference selections: Zoie Austin and Sydney Schwabe.
Austin, a freshman, made the all-conference first team. She averaged 18.4 points and 7.2 rebounds per game. She was consistently the Royals’ top scorer and had seven double-double performances. Her season high in points was 35 against a nationally ranked Williston State College team.
Schwabe, a sophomore, was named to the second team. In her second year with the Royals, she averaged 12.4 points per game, along with 4.1 rebounds. She accumulated 720 points over two years with LRSC, including 127 three-pointers in 398 attempts (31.9%).
The LRSC women went 17-12 under second-year head coach Colden Hutton. Their season ended in the Region XIII semifinals.
