Three Firebirds earned all-state honors in hockey this season.
Devils Lake junior forward Weston Stromme represented the boys. For the girls, Julia McIvor and Delaney Parker were named.
Stromme played in all 24 games for the Firebirds this season. He led the team in goals (17) and assists (26). His 43 points were the most in a single season in the online recorded history of the boys’ hockey program, which goes back to 2007.
He was one of 10 forwards named to the all-state team.
Stromme now has 80 career points in two seasons of varsity.
Official records vary by source, but Stromme’s point total is already near the top of Devils Lake’s all-time leaderboard. Kyle Everson is believed to hold the Firebirds’ all-time point record with 99.
Assuming Stromme plays a full season as a senior, he’s well on his way to being the most productive boys’ hockey player in Devils Lake history.
Despite Stromme’s strong campaign — and four others with at least 20 points — Devils Lake struggled in the second half of the season. The Firebirds won an EDC play-in game but went two-and-out in the region tournament. They ultimately lost 12 of their last 15 games after a 7-2 start.
McIvor, one of two seniors on the Devils Lake girls’ hockey team, led the Firebirds with 11 points. She had a team-high and career-high nine goals.
McIvor was one of seven defenders named to the all-state team. It was her second straight season making all-state.
Parker also received all-state honors for the second consecutive year. The sophomore was one of four goalies on the all-state team.
Parker played 19 games, tallying 734 saves out of 816 shots — good for a 90% save rate.
Parker has been starting since she was an eighth-grader. Last year, she had a 90.7% save rate en route to all-state honors. She was the starting goalie on the 2023-24 team that made it to state, posting a 91.3% mark while still in middle school.
In February, the girls ended a long losing streak that extended back to two seasons ago. In the 5-3 win over Dickinson, McIvor scored three goals and Parker saved 36 out of 39 shots.
