Did everyone know most everything could be blamed on DEI (Diversity, Equity & Inclusion)? A few weeks ago, a helicopter crashed into a passenger jet and with no supporting evidence, nothing new here, President Trump blamed DEI and just for the heck of it blamed President Biden and all those that worked for him the prior 4 years. We will be seeing for some time that anything bad happening, probably for his four-year tenure, will be the fault of President Biden and anything good that transpires will because of Donald Trump. No evidence will be provided validating Biden’s role in something bad happening or no evidence validating the work of Trump for something good happening. President Trump does not believe in empirical evidence to support his views or decisions because he simply believes he is always right even when empirical evidence indicates he is wrong; it is either the fake news or the deep state. I would like to see a clear definition of who the deep state is or is it simply anyone with a contrarian viewpoint or belief to that of Donald Trump.

DEI is defined as: organizational frameworks which seek to promote the fair treatment and full participation of all people, particularly groups who have historically been underrepresented or subject to discrimination on the basis of identity or disability. Yes, there continues to be discrimination against a wide range of minorities even though it has improved over the past few decades. It is widely known that DEI has benefited women more than any other group who experienced discrimination in hiring. Women of childbearing age have been and continue to be discriminated against because the process of childbirth can be complicated and can lead to substantial time away from the job.

DEI is in a long list of cultural issues used by the Republican party to create emotional responses from the willfully ignorant and gullible component of their constituency, so they don’t realize policies and legislative initiatives do very little to make their lives better, often making their lives worse. We have been through abortion as the quintessential hot button issue prompting many people to frequently vote against their economic wellbeing to support anti-abortion efforts. There was a time when LGBTQ was used to emotionally charge their voters. We have had critical race theory, transgenders in sports, Haitian immigrants eating cats and dogs, the undefined deep state and other cultural issues I am missing because I know these issues are designed to misdirect and confuse voters. There will be something else they come up with because it is hard to run on policies that greatly favor the very wealthy at the expense of most of the population. Republican tax cuts for decades have disproportionately given much more to those with the most and very little to everyone else, usually some token amount so they could call the tax cut a middle-class tax cut. Almost all our accumulated national debt can be traced to Republican tax cuts starting with Ronald Reagan and our unfunded military misadventures in the Mideast started under false pretense by President Bush II.

It is rather sad that millions of citizens fall victim to this deception and manipulation to vote based on cultural issues that do very little to advance their economic wellbeing. Most polls about the issues tend to see sizeable majorities that want their economic wellbeing being the focus and rarely see Republicans proposing anything that improves their personal wellbeing and often see quite the opposite. During the next few years, expect things to get worse for most people as federal funding cuts target domestic discretionary spending which benefits lower- and middle-income households all the while planning the continuation and possible enhancement of a previous tax cut where 80+% of the benefit was realized by corporations and the top 1%. There will be additional efforts from deregulation to lack of tax code enforcement that clearly benefit the very wealthy but indirectly harm much of the population through greater health risks to creating greater income inequality.

Pay close attention because you will be masterfully deceived, manipulated and misinformed. Using DEI as the new catch phrase, until something else comes along or that catch phrase grows old, is what we will be experiencing while there is a transactional president using the presidency to add to his personal wealth. Never in the past century or so, there were some truly unscrupulous presidents back in the 1800s, have we had a president looking for ways to monetize the presidency to gain personal wealth like Trump’s “man crush” – Vladimir Putin. Past presidents worked to varying degrees within their personal beliefs and philosophies to advance society to benefit the most Americans. That is not the case with our current president. This is almost exclusively about him and nobody else.
