The odds are in favor of the United States of America electing the first woman as President. It is almost a guarantee that Kamala Harris and Tim Walz will win the popular vote by possibly more than 10+ million votes. The antiquated Electoral College could be more in play as it is also likely that Harris/Walz could initially secure enough votes to win the Electoral College. Then a few states could start playing games with the vote of the people by attempting to scam the Electoral College voting process to install someone as president who did not win the popular vote and may not have won the Electoral College.

The weeks following the November 2024 election could very well be some of the most contentious and troublesome days in the history of our nation. Hopefully less turbulent than the years surrounding the Civil War, we all hope it will not come close to this dark time in our history as a nation. Undoubtedly the former president has lied repeatedly about an allegedly rigged 2020 presidential election so his fragile ego can live with the loss. Should he lose again in 2024, his shattered ego will necessitate actions of overt rebellion and widespread destruction. He has conditioned his most ardent supporters to be ready to violently respond should he lose again. Losing to a minority woman who will become the first female president of the country will make the loss even more humbling and devastating for the ever so fragile ego of the former president.

The fact that in one of the greatest democracies ever, we will finally be getting around to possibly electing its first female president seems ridiculous. Countries throughout the world have elected female national leadership for decades. Having a woman as president will be something that will change how we are governed because women bring unique experiences, perspective, and emotional intelligence to their work.

Men tend to lead from the viewpoints of decisiveness, strength, competitiveness, winning and other self-centered attributes they see as essential to leadership. Women take a more inclusionary, pragmatic, wholistic, compromising and long-term vision toward governance. Women constitute slightly more than 50% of the U.S. population yet comprise much less than 50% of elected officials at all levels of government. Elected female leadership at all levels of government is one of the true failures of the grand experiment in self-governance. Even though the founding fathers did not include women in the formation of this grand experiment, and it took until 1920 for women got the right to vote. Women having the right to vote took way too long to enact. More than 100 years later, many more women should be elected officials because they represent our collective interests much better than men.

Reality is that without the electoral college, the Republican party would rarely, if ever, see their nominee for president elected unless something dramatically changes within that party or the national electorate. The question remains whether a possible initial electoral college win will be seen as legitimate (Harris winning) or if achieved through subterfuge (Trump winning) in a few battleground states seen as bogus. A corrupt electoral college win will not be viewed well by a majority of the population and how they react could be very fascinating. Should the former president lose the aftermath of the election, unless the loss is by a very large margin, we will likely see a horrific and troubling period instigated by a bruised and battered former president with a very frail ego.

When the dust settles, regardless of how destructive the election aftermath will be, the country will likely survive and elect the first female president. The former president’s aspiration to be a strongman dictator ruling over a once great democracy will likely end. If there is another outcome, we can all prepare for something most of the public never thought possible in what once was one of the greatest democracies in the history of the world. The grand experiment envisioned by our forefathers and with the passing of each generation to have democratic self-governance will have failed. Anyone believing that a wannabe totalitarian dictator will save our democracy is being either stupid, delusional or both. Dictatorship is the antithesis of a democracy, particularly one initially formulated to be governed by, for and of the people. While our country is systematically ruined by the former president for most of the population, just not the 1%, it will be quite hollow for many to say: I told you so.” Hang on to whatever you can, it is going to be a very bumpy ride over the next few months, whatever the outcome may be.
