Project 2025 was developed by the Heritage Foundation and is a diabolical, draconian plan to dramatically reshape the government of the U.S. in a fashion away from government by, for and of the people that strives to form a more perfect union. It is becoming a bit humorous to see all the Republicans, including the former president and presidential nominee, disavow their support for this heavy-handed authoritarian document, even given all the high-level Republican operatives and past presidential staff members that were involved in the development of the plan. What is striking is that the Republican party had been historically very good at concealing their real policy and legislative intentions and putting forth plans that provided generalities but rarely describe proposed action in such detail. Project 2025 is a 900+ page document.
The reality is that this is a plan where a 25-35% minority of the population wants to impose how they see government working and basically force the 65-75% majority of the population to simply comply. Additionally, there is a Christian nationalism aspect of Project 2025 that wants to impose minority religious beliefs and practices on the majority in direct violation of the U.S. Constitution. Project 2025 really does not care what the constitution says about governing this country only how this minority views controlling and subjugation of the American people.
The Project 2025 document includes not only the general philosophical outline of topics like health care, Social Security, Medicare, foreign policy, economic strategies, societal constraints. taxation and other components of American society but specifics how to achieve this major reformation of governance in the country. As many as 50,000 current civil service employees with expertise specific to the department or agency they work will be replaced by political appointees who have as their primary responsibility a pledge of loyalty to the president. A signed document will be required to the ensure their loyalty to the president even if they have little or no expertise in the area they are assigned to oversee. Can’t wait to see how a bureaucracy operates where you need not necessarily be competent at your job only loyal to the president.
The Project 2025 answer to immigration is to stop granting asylum and round up as many as 11-15 million illegal immigrants and hold them in large scale camps to await deportation to their home country. Nothing in the plan outlines the cost for such a mammoth undertaking and how various industries, most notably hospitality, construction and agriculture, highly reliant on this immigrant labor supply, will survive when these employees are no longer available. Who is going to make millions or billions off this political idea lacking in forethought and serious financial analysis? Because the press will be tightly controlled by anyone implementing any facet of Project 2025, we will likely never know just how chaotic and foolhardy, not to mention costly, this immigration plan is once it is implemented.
Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid have been something that many conservatives have been opposed to since they were first legislatively enacted and became so successful by helping millions of low income and elderly live better lives. In some way all three federal programs are attacked within Project 2025 either by outright eliminating or reducing assistance to those reliant on each program. It is difficult to think how millions of low income and elderly individuals will survive without these essential assistance safety net programs. Also, just imagine the economic impact of throwing millions of elderly into poverty so that they are unable to meet their daily living needs and slowly suffer the indignity of wallowing in poverty at the end of their life. This should never be something the wealthiest nation on the planet does that produces undue hardship on the most vulnerable segments of society.
Project 2025 is a sinister plan designed to enhance the lives of the wealthy at the expense of most of the population. There is very little, if anything, in the plan that makes the lives of most Americans better. It does propose doing almost everything possible to enhance the lives of the wealthiest Americans and the wellbeing, often at the expense of the public good, of all multinational and large corporations. It proposes reducing the corporate tax rate to be reduced to possibly as low as 15% yet proposes a massive deportation process that will undoubtedly cost billions of dollars. The economic fallout from Project 2025 will soar the annual federal debt and likely produce a cumulative deficit that is unsustainable and will devastate the economy of the U.S. Make no mistake, Project 2025 is the blueprint for much of what will happen if the former president is re-elected. Should this re-election bid be unsuccessful this election cycle, much of what is contained in Project 2025 represents the future guidance for one political party in future election cycles.
