Dear Editor,
I am a 71-year-old man who has finally had enough from our Congressional Delegation, especially Senator Kevin Cramer. It seems to me that he has done nothing for the people of Nelson County or the people of North Dakota.
As an officer in the US Army, with nine and a half years of active duty and another seven years in the Army Reserves, I was honorably discharged as a Lieutenant Colonel. It should come as no surprise that when former President Trump stood on the graves of soldiers in Arlington National Cemetery and reportedly said of the fallen soldiers “What did they die for “and considered them “sucker and losers”. Kevin Cramer has said nothing, that I am upset is an understatement. He is a veteran, and should be as disgusted with these comments as I am. Yet he has not said anything publicly about these comments. My father fought in the US Navy during World War II. He was on the USS Strong when it was hit by a torpedo in the Atlantic Ocean. One of his close friends did not make it off the Strong. I can tell you he never thought of him or any other fallen veteran as a sucker or a loser.
I also have friends and relatives who are diabetics and seniors and need to use insulin. I know that insulin was capped at $35.00 for seniors, but Senator Cramer did not vote for that bill. He also voted against a bill that would allow Medicare to negotiate for cheaper drug prices for seniors. I live in Nelson County which is one of the most heavily senior-populated counties in North Dakota. My questions to Senator Cramer are “Why did you vote the way you did? and “why haven’t you stood up for fallen veterans?”
In campaign ads I always hear Senator Cramer say he is fighting for North Dakota, and he supports our troops. I see no proof of these statements in the votes he has made or in his failure to comment on former President Trump’s statements.
The purpose of this letter is two-fold. One is to show my displeasure with Senator Cramer. And the second is to point out to the people of Nelson County and North Dakota that Senator Cramer is not doing what he should be doing for this county or this state.
