As I’m writing this, we just got almost an inch and a half more rain. The difference between rain last year and this year is so crazy! I have a little journal that I write a little something in each year and last year I had written that we got 0.20” of rain and that was a lot last year!
The strawberries have been enjoying the moisture however and like you can see in the included picture we just started getting strawberries from the garden! I love this time of year when the kids can look forward to a garden snack! They will frequently enjoy them on our walks in the evening. They also love picking peas out of the garden and when the carrots are bigger a carrot here and there – that is a special treat, though, because I only let them do that every so often…I need to have some left to harvest at the end of the year!
This week I have another summer drink to share with you! I’m going to call it an Orange and Cream drink but really it is very similar to an Orange Julius. This recipe actually came from my sister-in-law. She shared it with me back when we were teenagers and I made it quite a bit back then! Perfect for cooling off on a hot summer day! Enjoy!
Orange and Cream Drink
1 6oz. can frozen orange juice
1 cup milk
1 cup water
¼ cup granulated sugar
1 tsp vanilla extract
12 ice cubes
Combine all the ingredients in a blender and blend until frothy! Enjoy!
