I am becoming increasingly concerned that we as a nation are allowing minority rule to take hold in this country. This nation cannot survive if 30-35%, or even as high as 40%, of the population can dictate to the majority how they must live their lives in accordance with standards and principles that a minority of the population find acceptable. Imposing your personal beliefs and guiding principles of life, whether they be religious or otherwise formulated, is not what this nation should aspire to ensure continued adherence to the basic concepts of the constitution.
It is of vital importance to stress that the United States of America was not created as a Christian nation even though many have attempted to impose Christian doctrine on this country. The founding fathers escaped religious tyranny in Britain to form a new nation where religion was not dictated to the citizens by the government, but religious freedom allowed to flourish among the citizens. Religious freedom does not allow individuals or the government to impose a specific religion on its citizens or require nationwide adherence to the doctrines and precepts of that religion. The fact that we now have a Speaker of the House that believes the Bible forms the basis for governing our nation is a bit scary. He also believes in strict adherence to his personal brand of religion, an uncompromising religious doctrine not necessarily something that all citizens want to pledge adherence to as members of our multicultural society.
Recently there has been a rash of elections where the voters have overturned legislation designed to restrict abortion and women’s health care. The voters have spoken in several red state and allowed greater freedom with women’s health care, however, the minority population of the state is working diligently to discard the vote of the people in favor of their minority viewpoint about women’s health care. This is a vivid example of attempting to impose minority rule on the citizens of the state. In a recent poll in North Dakota 38% of those polled favored what the state legislature passed into law, again we are watching minority rule.
The Supreme Court ruled that the issue of abortion would be decided on a state-by-state basis. However, now that that isn’t working out the way anti-abortionists, the minority, like and they are looking to impose a nationwide federal ban covering all states. It should be explicitly stated where does this minority of citizens get off having the temerity to believe they have the right to decide how their fellow citizens live their lives.
We have a fractured electorate that seems to be falling into the trap where 25-35% of the eligible voting population could very well decide who will be elected president in 2024. That outcome could very well end our functioning as a democratic republic for the foreseeable future yet clearly reflect a minority viewpoint being imposed on the majority as to how we collectively operate as a society. The ultimate outcome could be horrific and structurally change our society for years, if not decades. Government by, for and of the few (multinational corporations and billionaire oligarchs) will replace government by, for and of the people.
Take a little time to educate yourself about how governments function in Russia, Turkey, Hungary, China, Saudi Arabia and a few other authoritarian oppressive nations to see where electing the former president would take us if an ignorant and gullible voting public makes a truly disastrous choice in 2024. This is not being hyperbolic because he has expressed specific policy positions and philosophies that reflect authoritarian oppressive leadership if elected President. It is doubtful that those with self-serving and totalitarian viewpoints can win an honest and fair election because they do represent the minority. However, election shenanigans, voter tampering, legislative malfeasance and other illegal or illegitimate actions will be used to install, not elect, a president. This outcome is not supported by most of the population. Once this minority cease power, they will take every step imaginable to retain their questionably acquired power, including bloodshed.
The United States of America cannot function as a nation when it is ruled by a minority of the population, most nations can’t. From a historical perspective most cases of minority rule in the history of mankind never work out well over the long haul even when short term gains are achieved. It cannot be overstated given what we know, yes it has been written down and expressed in speeches and campaign events about where the former president will take the country if he is to prevail in the 2024 election. Do not disregard the plans and political comments as just campaign rhetoric and that those actions would never ultimately happen. The former president means what he says and will use the full power of the president to reshape America into something most people will not recognize, even many of his current supporters, or something that inspires lasting national contentment within most of the population.
