Depending on where we look – we can see a whole bunch of changing things. As I look out to my back yard, for instance, the hues of color gracing my maple trees give me a clue at what’s to come. Red, yellow, green and cream. Warm colors welcoming a season sure to bring cold.

As I look in my cupboards – the light foods of summer are being replaced with pastas, sauces and if I’m being completely transparent – more goodies of the sweet and fattening nature. I plan to “eat with grace” which means I’ll eat what my body tells me to. Right now, it needs fat bad. It needs carbs and so my cupboards display what my tummy needs. See?

As I look in my garage, which is really an unplanned cat and kitten sanctuary – I see bales of straw readying the poor orphans for a winter warm. Apparently I don’t just run an unplanned cat and kitten sanctuary. Also in my garage is a true to scale kitten condominium built as sturdy and with as much insulation as your home. I filled it too with straw. The roof lifts up so I can put new straw in – which I did. But this time I got a huge surprise! The nearest neighbor has chickens. I don’t have chickens. One of his chickens prefers me over him and so it flies or waddles over to my yard where I feed her feed mixed with yummy spices. They are spices that chickens love like I love German dumpling soup! Apparently happy chickens lay happy eggs.

I was gone Monkey Balling for three days and came home to three perfectly clean, white eggs lying in the cat condominium! The kittens needed to walk over them to get in and out but they didn’t mind none. The chicken, it appears, is earning its keep and I’m good with that. It’s exciting being a Mom to a chicken and those kittens. It gives me purpose and makes me feel loved.

As I look into my closet space – I currently see all tops either held up by halter or spaghetti straps. I see short, cool cotton dresses to be worn in the sun, headscarves and sports bras.

Today though, a great and powerful transformation shall take place. All of those things will be folded and packed away until May. All things mohair, wool, thermal, lined cotton and fleecy shall grace my closet room. Today I shall be reunited in my shoe closet with my old friends, “UGG” and “Sorel” as my flip flops flip into a box in the storage room. My sandals shall be replaced with warm socks going back into my drawer.

And lastly, as I look into my mirror – I see an aging face going into another winter of its life fully aware that I’ve been chosen to live another season with all of you. As my days on earth get shorter – I hope to look back seeing how all this looking is necessary to booking happiness and peace in our lives. Forevermore until we aren’t any more.

Time to get busy saying “hi” to all my favorite sweaters as I say goodbye to all of you for now. And after that – I’m going to go pick my egg of the day out of the cat house. I now have enough eggs for breakfast for me and that husband of mine – just because I looked.

The cat/kitten condominium harbors more than just felines!

Three perfect eggs awaited the Blonde – laid by a rogue chicken she feeds despite not having chickens!
