It has been my belief for many years that had more women been directly involved throughout history in governing the planet, our world would be far better off than it is today. Men have dominated ruling the world for thousands of years and while the result of their rule is a mixed bag of good and bad, I believe bad has prevailed. It can be argued that men throughout time have saved the world from extreme tyranny, Hitler comes to mind, however, to my knowledge there has rarely been a woman that promoted authoritative, tyrannical rule. Men have been the main perpetrators, in the past and present, of such despotic and horrific behavior.

The United States has not elected a woman President while many other nations of the world, going back decades, have elected women as the leader of their country. It is a true failure that when women constitute over 50% of the population none have been elected President and all legislative bodies from Congress to local levels are underrepresented by women. Women did not get voting rights until 1920 with the passage of the 19th amendment. Women currently constitute 28% of Congress, the highest percentage in US history, a pathetic number. It is somewhat better in state legislatures with 33% being women, however, that is nowhere close to what it should be given 50% of the overall are women. Six state legislatures have less than 20% women legislators, which is pitiful.

It is true that men have made amazing contributions to the advancement of civilization, however throughout history women were rarely allowed to be educated and limited to a childbearing role in society. They cooked and took care of household chores. Often, we witnessed women lugging large containers of water some distance in third world countries for household use. There are still parts of the world where girls go uneducated after a certain age so they can help with household chores and regularly get married in their early teens to have children. This subjugation of women throughout the world must come to an end. While most of the hardcore subjugation of women takes place in the underdeveloped and overtly male dominated nations of the world, the US with recent abortion rights actions show how easily female subjugation can entrench itself in a society.

Throughout history had more women been involved in the decision-making process, far fewer wars would have been waged, often for convoluted and just plain dumb reasons. The intent and guiding principles for governance would focus on the safety and wellbeing of the family, not the more egocentric actions of men. Men react in a much more primal reactive manner often emphasizing physicality and much less based on intelligence and reason. Women react in a very proactive and protective manner but often more based on rational thought and reason.

Most wars throughout history waged by men are trying to exert dominion over other men and rarely considered the impact of war or brutal aggression on women and children. Women would rarely wage war or brutal aggression without considering how the effects of military actions would impact the whole of society. It is much less likely that more women in Congress would allow the Department of Defense (DoD) to go unaudited for over 25 years because a sizeable amount of the DoD funding is untraceable. They would be much less likely to allow increased funding of DoD to go unchallenged. Given the audit issues and the ruthlessness of the military industrial complex, to lobby Congress into providing what seems to be unlimited funding would be more scrutinized. The funding of procurement projects not even requested by the DoD, or the presiding presidential administration would not go unchallenged without clear delineation of the need not simply to appease the military industrial complex.

I have much more faith in women, perhaps not the likes of Marjorie Taylor Greene or Lauren Boebert, to do a better job moving our society responsibility and reasonably forward to improve the economic and societal wellbeing of all citizens. At the present time there are a good number of unscrupulous, corrupt, and morally questionable male politicians trying to gain and maintain their power by any means possible. Most of the policy positions and philosophies of these despicable male politicians are not supported by a majority, and often a decisive majority, of the public. It goes without saying that women politicians are not beyond being corrupted, but they are known not to have the ponderance of past compromising situations as their male counterparts.

We need more women to run for political office. We need women of integrity, vision, empathy and intelligence because many of the men that have been elected over the years lack most, if not all, of these essential characteristics for good leadership. We cannot survive as a country if the quality of our elected officials at all levels of government does not improve. One way to do so is to elect substantially more women to help us escape from a society that has become corrupted and is unsustainable as a representative democracy envisioned by our founding fathers without better quality representation at all levels of government.
